This route, developed by LCC member William Pol, is a sojourn through South-Western Ontario's Dutch heritage. Inspired by the Eleven Cities Bicycle Tour (or Fietselfsedentocht) that occurs on Whit Monday every year in the Netherleands, this route brings riders through several towns with Dutch heritage in south-western Ontario.
Historically this ride has been run privately, but we're excited to offer it to LCC club members in the hopes that it becomes a marquee annual event on our club's calendar.
The ride runs from sun up to sun down. Expect to be riding in the dark at the end. That means, other than the things you normally pack for group rides you will need a few extras.
What to bring (other than what you normally would pack)
- fully charged lights, front and back. Make sure your headlight is a "seeing" light (250 lumens at least).
- a reflective vest or suspenders is encouraged. (very inexpensive on amazon)
- one more tube than you usually carry.
There will be lots of stops, and lots of service. This is not a fast ride, nor is it an endurance grind. It's just a very long enjoyable day on the bike.
